Niyan HIE Child Assistance Program
From the NICU to early childhood, no family should have to navigate HIE alone.
Our Mission
The Niyan HIE Child Assistance Program is a comprehensive charitable initiative created to assist eligible children affected by Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE) from birth through their fifth birthday.
The first years of a child’s life can involve intensive medical care, therapy, developmental monitoring, specialized equipment, and significant practical demands on families. Where an HIE-related need affects a young child’s health, development, mobility, communication, nutrition, safety, or access to appropriate care, Niyan Foundation will seek to identify a meaningful way to help within the Foundation’s resources and program guidelines.
Who We Support
The program considers children from birth through age five with a documented diagnosis or clinical history of HIE, families demonstrating a qualifying need for assistance, and requests that fall within the Foundation’s charitable mission and program requirements.
Support is considered individually because every child’s HIE journey is different.
How We May Help
All assistance is subject to eligibility, documentation when applicable, program rules, and available Foundation resources.
Eligible medical, adaptive, positioning, mobility, feeding, communication, home-care, orthotic, and other appropriate HIE-related equipment or resources.
Support related to physical, occupational, speech, feeding, developmental therapy, early intervention, motor development, and communication.
Eligible augmentative communication resources, adaptive learning tools, accessibility equipment, mobility resources, and assistive technology.
Appropriate equipment, supplies, or resources recommended as part of a child’s professional care plan.
Educational materials, guidance to community resources, caregiver resources, and connections to appropriate professional or community services.
Limited transportation assistance may be considered when transportation is a significant barrier to eligible HIE-related care.
Nutrition & Feeding Support
Where HIE affects feeding or nutrition, eligible assistance may include appropriate equipment, supplies, or resources recommended as part of the child’s professional care plan. Niyan Foundation does not make independent medical or nutritional treatment decisions.
Birth Through Five
Supporting families as they encounter HIE, intensive neonatal care, early treatment, and the transition home.
Helping address emerging medical, feeding, developmental, mobility, and therapy needs.
Supporting communication, movement, development, rehabilitation, adaptive needs, and early intervention.
Helping children access appropriate developmental, communication, mobility, adaptive, and early-learning resources as they approach school age.
Individualized Assistance
One child may primarily need mobility assistance. Another may require communication technology, feeding support, intensive therapy, or developmental resources. Niyan Foundation therefore evaluates eligible requests individually rather than limiting assistance to a single predetermined type of support.
Eligibility & Review
The program is intended for eligible children from birth through age five who have a documented diagnosis or clinical history of HIE and a qualifying need for assistance.
Requests may be evaluated according to the child’s age, documentation of HIE, the requested need, appropriate professional documentation when applicable, financial or practical need, availability of other assistance, program eligibility, and available Foundation resources.
Approval is not automatic, and additional documentation may be requested before a determination is made.
Request Assistance →Our Commitment
Niyan Foundation’s commitment is to help remove practical barriers between children affected by HIE and the medical, developmental, therapeutic, adaptive, and supportive resources that may help them progress.
From birth through age five, we will work to help eligible children access the support they need to move forward—one milestone at a time.
Niyan Foundation is a charitable organization and does not provide medical diagnosis, medical treatment, or individualized medical advice. Assistance through this program does not replace care from licensed physicians, therapists, or other qualified professionals. Medical and therapeutic decisions must remain between families and their healthcare professionals.
